Indy Fringe and the YMCA’s quest for health!

IndyFringe and the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis share open hearts, a passion for our missions, and an awareness of our diverse communities. We strive in providing creative avenues to reach you, inspire you, and to create opportunities of self expression and experiencing the expression of others.

The YMCA and IndyFringe want you to be informed about your health and the diabetes epidemic that is impacting central Indiana.

Did you know that diabetes is a global epidemic?

An estimated 21 million Americans have diabetes, but another 41 million people have the pre-diabetic condition of high blood sugar, putting them at high risk for developing the disease in the near future. The Indiana State Department of Health estimates that in 2006, over 5 billion dollars was spent on health care for those with diabetes. Simple lifestyle changes have proven to be successful in preventing diabetes.

A simple test (finger prick) can tell you if you are at risk and it takes just minutes. Participating in a prevention program can greatly help you reduce your risk. Want to learn more about our YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program? Contact the YMCA at 266-YMCA to find a DPP (Diabetes Prevention Program) near you.
